Expert information
Retrospective registration in the ZPR
For births that took place before November 1, 2014, it may be necessary to retrospectively enter the data in the register in order to issue a register extract.
The retrospective registration of a birth in Germany is carried out by the registry office that recorded the civil status event in the birth register.
If the birth took place abroad, it can be retroactively recorded at any registry office in the ZPR.
Foreign documents in foreign languages must be submitted with a translation for retroactive recording. These must also be apostilled or certified on a regular basis.
Further information on apostilles and certification can be obtained from the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (BMEIA)/Office for Consular Certification (0501150-4425; beglaubigungen@bmeia.gv.at).
